Pants, no person, found in parking lot: At 8:13 a.m. Feb. 22 at the Federal Way Community Center, a pair of pants with $8 in the pockets were found in the parking lot. The pants were wet, and no identification was found. The pants and money were logged into Federal Way Police Department property/evidence.
Mysterious fire destroys car: At 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 22 in the 2600 block of South 320th Street, firefighters were dispatched to the location for a car fire. Upon arriving, the 2006 Honda CRV’s full engine compartment was engulfed in flames. The fire was put out, and no other property damage was seen. The car owner’s son and his wife were in the car. Neither were hurt. The vehicle could not be driven and was blocking the outside lane. Police impounded the vehicle after it was towed. Arson was not suspected, but the cause of the fire was unknown. All evidence of the fire’s cause appeared to have been destroyed.
Something sketchy going on: At 2:29 p.m. on Feb. 21 in the 33000 block of 37th Place Southwest, officers responded to the reporting party’s house after the woman stated she saw her daughter’s boyfriend leaving the residence at a late hour. She told the police the boyfriend is 21 years old and the daughter is 16. The daughter denied any sexual contact between the two of them. The boyfriend left the residence prior to police arrival but was stopped on an unrelated traffic stop around the same time.
Victim needs new friends: At 1:14 p.m. on Feb. 21 in the 1500 block of South 328th Street, a victim told police she purchased a cell phone from a homeless man known to her as “C-Note.” A few minutes later, another homeless associate known to her as “Deuce” asked to borrow the phone and her “score” ID bracelet to see if he could sign her in as a guest at the Econo Lodge. When the victim handed over the phone, the man walked away with it and never returned.
Time to put the video games down: At 7:19 p.m. on Feb. 20 in the 27000 block of Pacific Highway South, two men were playing video games when a fight broke out between the two. One man punched the other, causing a visible injury. The victim provided a written statement but did not want to press charges. The victim just wanted help getting his items. He collected his belongings, and the suspect agreed to leave the area.
He just won’t take no for an answer: At 11:54 p.m. on Feb. 20 in the 1600 block of South 308th Street, officers responded to a verbal argument. The victim stated her husband, whom she’s in the process of divorcing, came to her door and started knocking on it very loudly. He did this twice and left. He continued to call her 69 times over the course of the following few days.
Unwanted person gets unwanted attention: At 4:20 a.m. in the 2000 block of South 320th Street, police responded for an unwanted person. While investigating, officers learned one suspect had a $1,000 misdemeanor warrant out of Federal Way. The suspect signed the catch-and-release form and promised to make his court appearance.
The wings are no joke: At 4:51 p.m. on Feb. 19 in the 2000 block of South 320th Street, officers were dispatched to Buffalo Wild Wings for a report of a CPR in progress on a male customer who collapsed while eating. After contact was made with a family member, police learned the man recently had a work-related injury in which he dropped a heavy door on his head and had been experiencing severe headaches and vision problems since the accident. The man was transported by Medic One to Harborview Medical Center.
A prowler on the loose: At 2:27 p.m. on Feb. 18 in the 100 block of Southwest 311th Place, a victim reported an unknown person left a water spray bottle in front of his home near the door. The victim reviewed surveillance footage and learned that a completely naked white male, who appeared to be in his 30s, was outside of his home, possibly looking in the windows. The male’s identity is unknown, and the victim said he checked his footage since and the male has not been back.
That’s why you don’t drink and drive: At 6:58 p.m. on Feb. 18 in the 32000 block of Pacific Highway South, a shopper called police to report he found a purse in the parking lot of Total Wine and More. The caller said he pulled into a parking space at Total Wine and More and saw the purse lying on the ground. The man told officers there was no indication of the potential owner on site. Police submitted the purse into evidence as found property with an unknown owner.
So much for selling the place: At 2:36 p.m. on Feb. 17 in the 1600 block of Southwest 325th Place, a victim reported that his house was unoccupied and for sale when, sometime in the last few days, an unknown suspect or suspects removed the front doorknob and took the realtor key box off of the knob. The victim reported it when a realtor attempted to show the home and discovered the damage. The home was able to be secured because of the deadbolt lock.
Teenager needs better awareness: At 4:25 p.m. on Feb. 17 in the 33000 block of 21st Avenue Southwest, an off-duty police officer was providing extra security at a local store when a juvenile male was observed selecting cough syrup from a display. The officer also witnessed the male conceal the medication. The store’s loss prevention officer maintained surveillance and reported the suspect exited the store making no attempt to pay for the merchandise. The off-duty officer detained the male outside the store without incident, and served the male with a trespass notice.
Grabbing a bite after shopping: At 2:09 p.m. on Feb. 16 at the Commons mall, a suspect was stopped by Kohls security after attempting to leave the store without purchasing some electronic equipment. The suspect pushed security and fled on foot. Federal Way police found the suspect at McDonalds. Officers caught the suspect when the person decided to run. Police found the suspect to have a warrant out of Renton and booked the person into SCORE Jail.
Just going for a stroll: At 4:02 p.m. on Feb. 16 in the 2100 block of 336th Street, a victim called police to report an unknown suspect took her bicycle from her back patio. She saw the suspect walking away while pushing her bicycle. She yelled at the suspect that the bicycle belonged to her. The suspect dropped the bicycle and ran west. Officers checked the area but did not locate the suspect.
No more hiding places: At 11:05 p.m. on Feb. 16 in the 4900 block of Southwest 319th Lane, police were dispatched to the area for a suspicious man. The male suspect returned with a $7,500 assault warrant out of King County. The male was contacted at his apartment, taken into custody and transported and booked into SCORE Jail.
