A teenager was killed in an apparent shooting Wednesday, March 15, in the 1900 block of SW Campus Drive, according to a Federal Way Police news release.
Officers were dispatched just after 10 p.m. to an apartment complex at that address based on reports of an illegal discharge and the sound of a vehicle leaving the area at high speed, FWPD Commander Kurt Schwan said in an email.
Callers to 911 reported the victim, a young man in his late teens, was laying on the ground next to a vehicle in the apartment parking lot. A bystander initiated CPR and was relieved by officers, then fire and medical personnel as they arrived. The victim was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene and had suffered apparent gunshot wounds, Schwan said.
Detectives are investigating the shooting, but the circumstances surrounding it were still unknown Wednesday evening, Schwan said, and police had not yet identified a suspect. Anyone with information is urged to call FWPD at 253-835-2121.
