A student at Woodmont Elementary School in Federal Way has a probable case of H1N1 Influenza, also known as swine flu, according to an April 30 announcement from the Federal Way School District.
Parents have been asked to keep their students home. Woodmont Elementary will be closed for seven days and will re-open May 8, with students returning May 11, according to the district.
The King County Health Department notified the school district about the possible case of swine flu. Only the health department can determine whether a school should close. During the closure, the district’s maintenance staff will take measures to disinfect the building, according to the district.
