A knife-wielding man was arrested early Sunday morning in Federal Way after a SWAT team busted down his door.

At 2 a.m. July 8, Federal Way police responded to a 911 hang-up call. Upon arrival in the 3900 block of SW 328th Place, a woman was heard screaming inside the residence.

Officers attempted to contact a victim who ran out of the house. The victim told officers that her husband was inside, along with their four children, and was armed with a knife.

The victim told police her husband had assaulted and raped her. When police arrived, the suspect allegedly threatened the victim with the knife, telling her to make the police go away or else they would have to kill him.

Police report that all four children escaped the residence unharmed.

The Valley SWAT team responded and tried to get the suspect to exit the residence. At 5:27 a.m., the SWAT team broke through the front door.

The male suspect, 40, was located with two self-inflicted knife wounds to the torso. The suspect was taken into custody without resistance and transported to Harborview Medical Center.

The victim suffered minor injuries, according to police. The investigation is ongoing.
