Suspects steal mail outside post office | Federal Way crime blotter

Following is a sample from the Federal Way police log:

• Mail theft: At 6:04 a.m. April 27 at 33600 19th Ave. S.W., police discovered unknown subjects used a crowbar to pry open a mail receptacle outside a post office and steal an undetermined amount of mail.

• Good Samaritan gets ripped off: At 3:29 p.m. April 26 at 1901 S. 320th St., a person gave an unknown suspect a ride. When the suspect exited the vehicle, he or she stole the victim’s laptop, valued at $1,250.

• Theft of business: At 11:55 p.m. April 26 at 35815 Pacific Highway South, two suspects entered a restaurant through the front door and proceeded to open an unlocked refrigerator and grab a metal box containing $150. The suspects then left the business.

• Assault: At 9:57 p.m. April 26 at 31515 20th Ave. S., a victim was found lying face down on the sidewalk. He told police he had been assaulted from behind. There are no suspects.

• Underage partner: At 7:25 p.m. April 26 in the 315100 block of 28th Avenue South, a mother reported to police that she found her 12-year-old daughter making out with a 15-year-old boy. The juveniles were given a warning.

• Fight at work: At 4:08 p.m. April 26 in the 33100 block of Pacific Highway South, a victim and co-worker were involved in an argument that became physical.

• Found valuables: At 3:53 p.m. April 26 at 1928 S. Commons, an officer found two clear diamond cut stones in the mall. The stones were submitted into police evidence. The owner has not been located.

• BB gun damage: At 12:23 p.m. April 26 in the 29600 block of 21st Place South, two holes that appeared to be caused by BB gun shots were found in a vehicle’s windshield. A window in a boat was also broken.

• Slashed tires: At 12:30 p.m. April 26 in the 100 block of Southwest 366th Street, a victim reported three tires on his truck and three tires on another vehicle were slashed. There are no known suspects.

• Misplaced handgun: At 7:53 a.m. April 26 at 1807 S.W. 308th Place, a person found an unloaded handgun in its holster. The gun was found in a parking lot and appears to have fallen off a belt.

• Confused callers: At 12:02 a.m. April 26 in the 28200 block of 19th Place South, police responded to a domestic situation involving a mother, father and a 19-year-old son. The older adults were highly intoxicated and did not appear to know why they called 911.

• Racing: At 11:45 p.m. April 27 at 16th Avenue South and Pacific Highway South, a vehicle was stopped on suspicion of speeding. The driver had an active warrant and was arrested.

• Juvenile runaway: At 4:49 p.m. April 27 at 1928 S. Commons, a juvenile attempted to steal from Payless Shoesource. Police discovered she was a runaway and called her grandmother to pick her up.

• Fraudulent activity: At 3:19 p.m. April 20 at 1804 S. Commons, it was discovered that an employee at Famous Footwear committed theft by fraudulently returning merchandise. The employee, with the help of his or her aunt, made off with $2,602 from the scheme.

• Stolen wire: At 7 a.m. April 27 at 34200 1st Way South, it was reported that approximately $2,850 worth of construction equipment and copper wire were stolen.

• Keying: At 11:16 a.m. April 26 in the 2000 block of South 360th Street, a car was keyed. A derogatory remark, along with four other indistinct marks, were carved into the vehicle in large lettering.
