Following is a sample from the Federal Way police log:
• Catch and release: At 8:46 p.m. Oct. 25 in the 29600 block of 20th Place Southwest, a Federal Way police officer arrested a suspect on a King County warrant. The subject was later released due to the excessive time it took King County Sheriff’s Department to respond and take custody of the individual.
• Head injury: At 2:33 a.m. Oct. 24 in the 28100 block of 18th Avenue South, a man was found unconscious and bleeding from the head. He refused to give a report on the incident and stated he was not a victim.
• Officer shoots aggressive dog: At 12:28 p.m. Oct. 23 in the 33200 block of 37th Place Southwest, a police officer responded to a report of a dog that was loose and may have bitten a child. Police helped contain the dog in its owner’s yard, but received a report later that day that it was loose again. Police responded and the dog charged at an officer, who shot it in the back.
• Criminal favors a blowtorch: At 10:05 a.m. Oct. 23 in the 1600 block of South 308th Street, a suspect used a blowtorch to try to gain access to a soda machine at an apartment complex. His or her attempt failed.
• Brazen purse-snatcher: At 11:21 p.m. Oct. 24 at 106 S.W. Campus Drive, a victim was sitting in a vehicle in a parking lot, when a suspect opened the passenger-side door and stole the victim’s purse from off the seat.
• Angry ex: At 8:16 p.m. Oct. 24 in the 28300 block of 20th Avenue South, a victim reported that his or her ex broke a living room window after he or she become angry when asked to leave the victim’s residence.
• Felon arrested: At 12:45 a.m. Oct. 25 in the 34000 block of 1st Avenue South, a suspect was seen driving erratically. The driver was pulled over and later arrested on a felony warrant.
• Home burglary: At 2:01 p.m. Oct. 26 in the 800 block of South 314th Street, a suspect broke a front window in a home and gained access to the residence. He or she stole approximately $6,945 worth of goods.
• Familiar scene: At 11:39 a.m. Oct. 26 in the 3500 block of Southwest 340th Street, a woman was made aware that her home alarm was activated and her front door was forced open. Nothing was taken. No physical evidence was left. The crime is similar to a string of burglaries that have taken place in Northeast Tacoma and Southwest Federal Way over the past year.
