Federal Way police have arrested a 20-year-old Auburn man for investigation of first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of a 25-year-old man outside an apartment complex in Dash Point early June 18.
Detectives are still investigating the relationship between the 25-year-old man and the alleged gunman. The suspect is not being named because he has not been charged.
The homicide happened at 1 a.m. July 18 at the Park at Dash Point Apartments, 31736 50th Lane S.W.
Police responded to a call of shots fired at the apartments and found the man fatally shot upon arrival. It is unclear how many shots were fired or in what area of the apartment complex police found the body.
Approximately 15 people had gathered in the parking lot of the apartments for an unknown reason. An argument broke out leading up to the shooting, police spokeswoman Cathy Schrock said.
Officers established a perimeter of the area upon arrival and began identifying potential witnesses shortly thereafter. One possible witness was transported to the police station for further questioning, Schrock said.
A second victim, a 22-year-old man, was later discovered by police at Auburn General Hospital. He was transported to Harborview Medical Center with life threatening gunshot wounds and remains there in serious condition, Schrock said.
Three firearms have been found at the crime scene and one vehicle has been impounded to allow police to investigate possible evidence, she said. Police are still working to identify those in the crowd and what led to the dispute.
