Following is a sample from the Federal Way police log Feb. 22-28.

Feb. 22

On Feb. 22, there were at least 6 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft.

Firearm brandished: At about 9:50 a.m. near the 35400 block of 25th Avenue SW, a neighbor brandished a firearm causing alarm to the victim.

Kids steal car: At about 5:50 a.m. near the 31600 block of 23rd Avenue South, three juvenile suspects were suspected of stealing a vehicle from the transit center. The vehicle was then abandoned at the Federal Way Performing Arts and Event Center. This vehicle theft is recorded in the daily vehicle theft count.

Pepper sprayed over services: At about 4 p.m. near the 33500 block of Pacific Highway South, a woman was upset when given the bill for the tax services at the business and she pepper sprayed inside the location.

Feb. 23

On Feb. 23, there were at least 6 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft.

Firearm robbery: At about 7 p.m. near the 1700 block of SW 346th Place, a robbery with a firearm was reported.

Fight at WinCo: At about 7:54 p.m. near the 100 block of SW Campus Drive, officers responded to the WinCo store after reports of a fight. Upon arrival, law enforcement located the victim, who had a severe laceration to the head and was bleeding. The victim stated he was assaulted by five people and one person struck him with a firearm.

Feb. 24

On Feb. 24, there were at least 5 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft.

Student starts fire at school: At about 10:15 a.m. near the 35900 block of 16th Avenue South, a fire was reported at Todd Beamer High School. Upon investigation, officers determined the fire was intentionally set and found a suspect. The suspect was arrested and booked into the King County Youth Center.

Feb. 25

On Feb. 25, there were at least 5 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft.

Grazing gunshot wound: At about 10:35 p.m. near the 2200 block of South Star Lake Road, a person came into the emergency room with a grazing gunshot wound to the head. The person did not know who shot him nor if it was intentional. The victim did not want to press charges or cooperate with the police.

Feb. 26

On Feb. 26, there were at least 7 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft.

Dog purchase fraud: At about noon near the 31200 block of 8th Avenue SW, a person used an online service to attempt to purchase a dog. The transaction was online only and there was no confirmation of the service. The person sent $700 via the Zelle app.

Robbery at gas station: At about 5:20 p.m. near the 31800 block of Pacific Highway South, officers responded to a strong-arm robbery at the Arco gas station. Officers located and detained the suspect. After speaking with the victim, probable cause was developed and the suspect was arrested.

Man injured: At about 9:30 p.m. near the 2300 block of SW 334th Place, officers responded to a suspicious circumstances report involving the sounds of a vehicle collision, shots fired and men fighting with a person yelling for help. Upon arrival, officers found a victim in a vehicle with major injuries to his face. No suspects or shell casings were located.

Feb. 27

On Feb. 27, there were at least 4 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft.

Parent punches student: At about 1:30 p.m. near the 4200 block of South 288th Street, a large group of students got into a fight on the sidewalk near Thomas Jefferson High School. One of the involved students was punched in the face by another student’s father.

Feb. 28

On Feb. 28, there were at least 5 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft.
