Following is a sample from the Federal Way police log:
• Forcible fondling: At 8:22 p.m. March 28 in the 28000 block of Pacific Highway South, police received a call from a woman who was walking home from a bus stop. While walking, the woman claims that a stranger approached her from behind and starting rubbing and grabbing her butt and hips. She screamed and the man left. Police have no suspects.
• My cat did it, officer: At 11:43 a.m. March 28 in the 1600 block of South 288th Street, a police officer witnessed a couple in a verbal dispute while driving. The officer heard screaming and contacted the couple in a parking lot, where the male immediately reported that he was a “wanted man.” The woman then told the officer that she was screaming because her cat had clawed her leg while she was driving. The officer reported seeing dried blood on her lips.
• Not a fan of cleaning the house: At 4:34 p.m. March 29 in the 200 block of South 357th Street, police were called after a mother and her son got into an argument over cleaning the house. According to a report, the son was disrespectful and cursing and yelling at his mother. The boy eventually went to a friend’s house for the evening. There was no information in the report on whether he cleaned the house before leaving.
• Attempted theft: At 8:48 p.m. March 28 at 1901 S. Commons, police stopped a woman who admitted to shoplifting clothing from a store in The Commons Mall. When the woman was searched, police also found a meth pipe in her bra. She was cited for theft in the third degree and possession of drug paraphernalia.
• Caution: At 5 p.m. March 28 in the 32000 block of 1st Avenue South, a man with a caution tag associated with his name, approached two police officers who were at the scene of an accident and began taking photos. According to a report, there were no laws broken, but the incident was documented because the man had a caution tag.
• Look out, man!: At 3:39 p.m. March 28 in the 2000 block of South 320th Street, police were called after a woman hit a man with her vehicle, causing him to fall to the ground and suffer minor abrasions. According to the police report, the person-to-car collision happened because of a road-rage incident. The male suspect allegedly pounded on the woman’s car and blocked her from leaving by standing in front of her vehicle.
• Graffiti: On March 28, police took photos at a building in the 2100 block of Southwest 352nd Street of recent gang-related graffiti.
• Stolen property: At 4:02 a.m. March 28 in the 31000 block of 36th Avenue Southwest, police received a report that close to $3,000 worth of electronics were stolen from a home. While the occupants were sleeping, the suspect likely entered the house through a rear sliding-glass door, which didn’t lock properly, according to the report. Police have no suspects.
• Felon arrest: At 2:55 a.m. March 28 in the 35000 block of 25th Avenue Southwest, a Federal Way K-9 officer located a male suspect who was fleeing in a stolen vehicle. The suspect was later found to be a convicted felon and booked into the King County Jail for theft of a motor vehicle and also marijuana possession.
• Stolen vehicle: At 10 p.m. March 29 in the 34000 block of 4th Place South, police located a vehicle in a residence’s driveway that was reported stolen out of Edmonds. One suspect was arrested and the vehicle was impounded.
• Stolen weapon: At 10:33 p.m. March 29 in the 27000 block of Pacific Highway South, police were called to a business after suspects were stopped for shoplifting. One of the suspects, a male, had possession of a confirmed stolen weapon. The boy was booked into a juvenile detention center.
• A little too much to drink: At 6:31 p.m. March 29 in the 28000 block of Military Road, police were called after an intoxicated underage male was attempting to break into an apartment. The suspect was booked for being a minor in possession of alcohol, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
• Possible assault by teacher: At 6:19 p.m. March 29, police received a phone call from an elementary school security manager in the Federal Way School District who was reporting information of a possible assault by a teacher. According to the police report, a teacher’s assistant, who now works in the Tacoma School District, complained to the school’s principal that a teacher “used too much force” restraining a student in the classroom. The school security manager had limited information and police are investigating the matter.
