Federal Way’s next recycling event will be held Saturday, April 16, from 9 a.m. to 3p.m. in the Wild Waves parking lot (36893 Milton Road S., Federal Way).
Residents are invited to bring their confidential documents for shredding, as well as bulky branches destined to become compost products.
Attendees are also encouraged to donate unwanted bicycles and “gently used” household tools.
Most items dropped off at the event are destined for recycling, but it also features local nonprofit organizations that accept items for reuse.
The South King Tool Library will collect tools and equipment to loan out once this new tool library opens this summer.
Bikes for Kids has participated in recycling events since 2010, collecting bicycles and parts to refurbish countless bikes for distribution to charitable agencies and needy children.
Goodwill will also be on-site to accept reusable household goods and textiles.
The free recycling event accepts appliances and scrap metal, old mattresses and box springs, scrap tires, confidential documents for shredding, electronics, Styrofoam blocks, all kinds of batteries and more.
Vendors will not accept garbage or non-listed materials.
All items accepted at the event will be reused or recycled.
With the support of grant funding, the city stages free, one-stop recycling events each spring and fall so residents can easily manage a wide variety of difficult-to-recycle items.
Please see www.cityoffederalway.com/recyclingevent for a complete list of acceptable items, restrictions, alternative recycling options, and tips on loading/unloading order.
