South King Fire and Rescue will host a public dedication to its newly constructed 9/11 memorial on Sept. 11, the 13th anniversary of this tragic day in American history.

The ceremony will start at noon in front of Fire Station 64, 3700 S. 320th St.

This unique site contains elements from the World Trade Center Twin Towers, the Pentagon and Shanksville, Pennsylvania where Flight 93 crashed. It is one of the few projects of this kind that brings together items from each of the 9/11 crash sites.

Building the memorial was a community-wide effort constructed mostly by firefighters, along with generous donations from fire departments, service groups and individual residents. Area businesses provided donations of material and labor to make this project possible.

This event will bring together those who have contributed to the memorial and citizens who would like to join South King Fire and Rescue as the agency dedicates this memorial and observes the 13th anniversary of 9/11.
