South King Fire celebrates 75th anniversary

At Station 62, it’s a celebratio with food and fun for kids.

South King Fire, which covers Federal Way, Des Moines, and unincorporated parts of King County, is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. To commemorate the occasion, South King Fire held an open house in Des Moines at Station 67 on June 8, and another open house in Federal Way at Station 62 on June 15.

“I think the most important thing about South King Fire is just, you know, we have an incredible group of people who are committed to service,” said Chief Dave Van Valkenburg. “We’re here 24/7, 365, to serve the community. We’ve enjoyed a high level of community support. We are very grateful for the support the community’s given us through the years, and we’ll be here for another 75.”
