The following is a sample of the Federal Way police blotter through Aug. 6:
Need some new friends: At 9:30p.m. Aug. 8 in the 28600 block of Pacific Highway South, a victim reported receiving a text which stated “I will kill you” from an unknown number. He said he has not had any recent problems with anyone. He mentioned a couple of his friends have also received similar texts, who all know each other from college. The victim called his friends to make sure it was not any of them just playing around. He spoke to one of his friends, who said he was just playing around and it was a joke. Then after hearing the victim had called the police, the friend said it was not him, and hung up. The victim said he does not want to press chargers at this time, but rather talk with his friend first.
Run away son: At 5:36 p.m. Aug. 8 in the 35700 block of 16th Avenue South, a mother called to report her middle school son as a run away. He left yesterday and has not returned. She was later notified that her son was spotted at a mall, and also a church in Kent. He may be taking xanax and abusing prescription drugs. He is diagnosed with ADHD and has behavioral issues.
Can’t trust anyone, not even family: At 1:58 p.m. Aug. 8 in the 29700 block of 3rd Avenue South, a mother reported in being in a verbal argument with her son. She said her son became so angry during the dispute that she know fears of any contact with him. The mother asked about obtaining a court order against her son, so she was provided with a domestic violence resource pamphlet.
Customer upset, starts throwing things: At 9:51 a.m. Aug. 8 in the 32700 block of Highway South, an officer was dispatched to a smoke shop. It was called to report that a customer was being disorderly and throwing things around the store. Area checks around the store were negative. The victim was contacted and it was reported the customer became upset from a transaction dispute and pushed the digital register onto the floor, breaking it. The store has video surveillance, but the victim’s boss needs to make another copy which will happen on a later date.
Always wear a helmet: At 2:08 a.m. Aug. 8 in the 31200 block of Pacific Highway South, an officer witnessed a male riding a bike without a helmet. The officer stopped the male and identified him verbally. His ID was then confirmed, and came back with a $500 Federal Way Police Department DWLS 3rd warrant. The warrant was confirmed and the male promised to appear at his new court date.
The mysterious theft: At 8:35 a.m. Aug. 7 in the 4900 block of Southwest 319 Lane, the victim called to report he woke up with his cell phone, Washington ID and $600 missing from his wallet. The victim could not tell the police what he did before he went to bed. He accused his girlfriend of taking his things, but was only assuming. The victim said he had not slept for the past two days, so did not wake up all night. He said he came home, went to his room, locked the door and went to bed. When he woke up the next morning the listed items were gone from his bedside. The story of the victim was inconsistent. The girlfriend said she slept on the couch the whole night due to a previous DV the day prior, and the victim had gone out before going to bed. She did not know where.
The drug house: At 11:36 a.m. Aug. 7 in the 1800 block of South 330th Street, a neighbor came into the police station to report continued drug activity in one of the nearby condos. This condo is a documented drug house, from which the Federal Way Police Department’s Special Investigation Unit have done controlled buys of heroin. Many neighbors have reported a recent rise in foot, bicycle and vehicle traffic to the condo where individuals go inside and leave a few minutes later. Neighbors are calling for police to stop drug activity and related activity in the otherwise quiet retirement community.
Crime in a different country: At 7:54 p.m. Aug. 7 in the 33200 block of 37th Place Southwest, the father of the victim came to the police department to report an order violation that occurred between his 16-year-old daughter and her 21-year-old, recently deported boyfriend. The violation occurred in Chihuahua, Mexico, on July 1, which resulted in a Mexican National Amber Alert being issued, and his daughter being located on July 27. His daughter returned to the United States on July 29. The father is concerned the boyfriend is either on his way to the area, or already here trying to contact his daughter.
The hidden camera: At 9:21 p.m. Aug. 6 in the 1700 block of Southwest 359th Street, an officer was dispatched for an agency assist regarding a sex offense that occurred in Federal Way. The officer talked with Tacoma Police Department personnel who said they took a report from a 17-year-old female who lives in Tacoma. She stated that a 17-year-old filmed them while having consensual sexual intercourse without her knowing. She had found out by a mutual friend that the male was showing other subjects the video of them having intercourse.
Symbol flashed: At 1:47 p.m. Aug. 6 in the 28200 block of 29th Avenue South, a female reported an unknown male drove by in a vehicle and flashed a swastika at her son and kept driving. No additional information was available on the male.
The angry dog: At 11:11 p.m. Aug. 5 in the 1900 block of South 289th Street, a female called to report that both her and her Chihuahua dog were attacked on the street by another dog. She stated a black 60-pound dog ran out of a residence and began attacking her dog and bit her hand. She said her dog is currently at a veterinary emergency room and wishes for animal service to address the matter.
Parenting techniques reported: At 6:20 p.m. Aug. 5 in the 36200 block of Enchanted Parkway South, an officer was approached by a witness saying she saw a woman hitting a small child. The officer was in full uniform working at Wild Waves when he was approached. He was able to locate the woman and her 2-year-old child. The investigation was conducted and digital photographs and statements were taken. The officer did not see any physical abuse and did not have enough evidence to place the child in protective custody.
Two different stories: At 4:59 p.m. Aug. 5 in the 2800 block of Southwest 332nd Place, officers responded to a physical domestic violence call in progress. An officer contacted the female involved while the other two officers contacted the male. The female said she struck her boyfriend in the face twice because the male would not stop following her. The male said there was no assault. There were no visible signs of injury on the male. He said it was only verbal. Both agreed to occupy separate areas of the house until the female could arrange transportation to Renton.
Son tries to hit dad with a machete: At 4:34 p.m. Aug. 4 in the 30000 block of Seventh Avenue Southwest, while an officer was responding to another call, he was flagged down by two upset females about a fight occurring at their residence. Investigations showed the son attacked his dad with a machete, but was unable to hit him. Probable cause was established, and the son was booked in jail without incident. The father was uncooperative with the criminal investigation.
Domestic dispute in question: At 1:19 p.m. Aug. 4 in the 33500 block of 39th Avenue Southwest, police were called by a neighbor in the area who reported hearing sounds of a domestic dispute. The neighbor reported hearing doors slam and someone say “stop attacking me with the knife.” Police arrived at the location and witnessed several children in the window who were not in distress. A female also stood in the window who did not appear distressed. She refused to come out and speak with the police and eventually became upset an opened the door to tell the officers to leave. She did not have any visible injuries, nor appeared afraid or distressed. The female said she was home alone with her children. Additional neighbors were interviewed and did not hear any loud arguments from the house.
Dentist trip gone wrong: At 9:22 a.m. Aug. 4 in the 33000 block of First Way South, South King Fire and Rescue asked the Federal Way Police Department to assist with a dental patient who was having an adverse reaction to an anesthetic. The patient was becoming violent and was unaware of what was going on around him. He was ultimately restrained by his godfather and South King Fire personnel in a vehicle before police arrived. When police arrived, they restrained the patient, who had a swollen eye and blood all over himself because the godfather attempted to restrain the patient. He was taken to St. Francis Hospital for treatment.
Gunshots actually fireworks: At 8:44 p.m. Aug. 3 in the 5100 block of Southwest 324th Place, a person called the police to report a dispute outside his house and gunshots. Upon arrival, a man approached the officers and said it was not gunfire heard, but fireworks. The person said he was having an argument with another neighbor across the street because he thought his neighbor called animal control on him, so he threw the fireworks on his own yard to annoy him. The neighbor in the dispute with the man confirmed these were the circumstances.
Customer causes disturbance: At 12:56 p.m. Aug. 3 in the 32200 block of Pacific Highway South, a person was at a Hawaiian barbecue restaurant ordering food. Shortly afterward, the person began pulling the cash register monitors off the camera. He also pulled down cups, utensils and candy, causing damage as well as a huge mess. The man was contacted and placed under arrest.
Confused and acting strange: at 12:49 p.m. Aug. 3 in the 1700 block of South 305th Place, police were called after a man was seen sitting in a drawer of a bathroom instead of using a toilet. He was unable to answer any basic questions regarding date, time, location and actions. The man’s girlfriend located him in their joint residence acting strangely and unable to find his way from bed to bathroom.
