A 25-year-old man who was reported missing in Mexico in late March returned home shortly after his mother reported his absence.
The woman had expected her son home March 22, according to a Federal Way police report (click here to read the crime blotter entry). When he did not return home, she called police. The woman told police she last heard from her son on March 17 when he arrived in Mexico for spring break. She reported he was not answering his cell phone, which could possibly be disconnected, according to the police report.
Late that same day, the woman called police again to report her son had returned home.
On March 14, the Department of State issued a travel warning to inform U.S. citizens traveling to and living in Mexico about security concerns. The concerns were sparked by attacks from Mexican drug cartels on other cartels, Mexican security services and individuals who are viewed as a threat to the drug smugglers.
The U.S. Embassy urged Americans to delay unnecessary travel to parts of Mexico.
