Following is a sample from the Federal Way police log:
• Sex offender lurking around mall: At 5:17 p.m. Sept. 28 at 1928 S. Commons, mall security observed a suspect approaching teenage girls and asking them if they wanted to work for him. The suspect did not have a business license. A records check revealed he is a convicted sex offender out of Maryland. The man was arrested.
• Commercial burglary: At 7:07 a.m. Sept. 24 at 32700 Pacific Highway South, officers responded to a commercial burglary. The suspects entered the Hertz Rental Car, cut the power and broke through the wall into Don’s Estate Jewelry and Coin.
• Evading police: At 12:11 a.m. Sept. 25 near 21st Avenue Southwest and Southwest 338th Street, police saw a suspect in a stolen vehicle out of Tacoma. Police tried to pull the driver over, but the driver instead fled at a high rate of speed before colliding with another vehicle and fleeing on foot. The suspect was found in a field.
• Residential burglary: At 10:21 p.m. Sept. 26 in the 27900 block of Pacific Highway South, the door to a victim’s apartment was kicked in. Electronics, jewelry and medical marijuana products were stolen.
• Stabbing: At 5:48 p.m. Sept. 26 in the 1700 block of South 281st Place, a man suffered a knife wound when the woman he assaulted tried to defend herself.
• Transit center scuffle: At 10:27 a.m. Sept. 26 at 31621 23rd Ave. S., police were dispatched to a fight at the transit center. A suspect assaulted a victim after racist comments were yelled.
• Armed robbery: At 8:24 p.m. Sept. 27 at 3420 Southwest 320th Street, two suspects entered a business, robbed the clerk at gunpoint and took off with $1,500. A K-9 track was unsuccessful.
• Lewd conduct: At 9:59 p.m. Sept. 28 in the 27200 block of Pacific Highway South, a suspect was arrested for urinating in public. A DUI was also issued to the suspect.
• Assaulting an officer: At 2:24 p.m. Sept. 28 in the 1400 block of South 308th Street, there was a fight within a large group of people. One suspect resisted arrest and punched a police officer, cutting his lip.
