Federal Way has activated a severe weather shelter Monday, Jan. 13, in partnership with FUSION.
Temperatures are expected to drop near to freezing, according to the National Weather Service.
The Pete Andersen FUSION Family Center typically provides shelter to families who meet their qualifications, but will have room for any individuals experiencing homelessness based on availability.
FUSION Family Center is located at 1505 S. 328th Street in Federal Way and will provide shelter between 5 p.m. and 7 a.m. Monday, Jan. 13.
The city advised that no pets are allowed inside the FUSION shelter, but snacks and water will be provided. No one will be allowed in or out of the shelter after 10 p.m.
“Keeping residents safe is our top priority in Federal Way,” Mayor Jim Ferrell said in a press release. “We are proud to partner with FUSION Transitional Housing to activate the emergency cold shelter to provide a place for people to stay warm as temperatures fall overnight.”
