Several shoplifters caught at The Commons mall | Federal Way Police Blotter

Following is a sample from the Federal Way police log Nov. 8-14.

Nov. 8

Subway thief: At about 5:51 a.m. near the 32900 block of 1st Avenue South, it was reported that someone broke into the Subway restaurant overnight and stole a small safe containing about $200. No suspect(s) have been identified.

Stolen shoes: At about 10:33 a.m. near the 2000 block of South Commons, an unknown suspect stole three pairs of shoes worth about $230 from a store. The male suspect then fled in a gold sedan.

Shoplifter caught: At about 11 a.m. near the 1800 block of South Commons, a man was arrested for shoplifting from the Dick’s Sporting Goods location at The Commons mall. The suspect was processed and released, pending his court date.

Shoplifter arrested: At about 1:39 p.m. near the 2200 block of South Commons, a man was arrested for shoplifting from Target at The Commons mall. The suspect was processed and released, pending his court date.

Lego shoplifters caught: At about 2:17 p.m. near the 2200 block of South Commons, two men were arrested for shoplifting Lego products from Target at The Commons. The suspects were processed and released, pending their court dates.

Nov. 9

Assault suspect caught: At about 2:06 a.m. near the 31800 block of Pacific Highway South, an officer was flagged down at a gas station after an assault with a firearm. Additional officers arrived and chased a man on foot who was running from the area with a gun. Officers apprehended and later booked the man for first-degree assault.

Nov. 10

Person shot: At about 6 a.m. near the 33300 block of 8th Avenue South, a person was shot in the parking lot of his apartment complex. The suspect was arrested and booked into King County Jail.

Nov. 11

People in distress: At about 9 a.m. near the 4100 block of SW 327th Place, officers were dispatched to conduct a welfare check on a patient after the patient had not checked in with their healthcare provider for a few weeks. Upon responding to the home, officers looked through the window and saw a woman on the floor in distress. Officers entered the home and found a second person in distress. Both people were taken to the hospital.

Car damaged: At about 8:51 p.m. near the 28400 block of 18th Avenue South, a owner returned to her vehicle to find the window shattered and significant damage to the steering column. The plates were still secured and nothing was stolen from inside.

Nov. 12

Safe on fire: At about 10:04 a.m. near the 2100 block of SW 336th Street, a woman lit an abandoned sofa chair on fire in the alley behind the Safeway grocery store. The suspect fled in a van. The fire department arrived and extinguished the fire.

Nov. 13

Man shot: At about 3:40 a.m. near the 200 block of SW 320th Street, officers were dispatched to an apartment complex for reports of a man with a gunshot wound.

Sword waving: At about 1:10 p.m. near the 33600 block of 1st Way South, officers contacted a man who was reportedly yelling and waving a sword around. The man refused to speak to officers. Officers kept an eye on the man until he walked to his apartment and left the sword inside.

Firearm assault: At about 11:45 p.m. near the 28800 block of military Road South, officers responded to reports of a robbery with a firearm. The suspect was gone upon arrival. The victim was not injured.

Nov. 14

Students trespassed: At about 3 p.m. near the 4200 block of South 288th Street, three students from Federal Way High School arrived on campus at Thomas Jefferson High School (TJHS) and entered the building. While walking through the front office, the students were confronted and admitted to not being students at TJHS. The students were trespassed and escorted off campus by a School Resource Officer.
