During a special meeting at 5:30 p.m. on May 5, the Federal Way City Council will hear a presentation from Sound Transit representatives regarding the various alignment options for the Federal Way Link Extension project.
The public is encouraged to attend the meeting in the council chambers at City Hall, to learn more about the various options and to provide public comment on the preferred alignment.
The Federal Way Link Extension project will extend light rail from the future Angle Lake Station at South 200th in SeaTac, which is under construction, to Kent/Des Moines by 2023. The project also develops a shovel-ready plan for extending light rail to the Federal Way Transit Center when additional funding is secured. The corridor is about 7.6 miles long and parallels SR 99 and Interstate 5.
Additionally, from 4-7 p.m. on May 6, Sound Transit will hold a public hearing at the Federal Way Community Center, 876 S. 333rd St. Public comment begins at 5:30 p.m.
This hearing is intended to inform citizens of the progress being made by Sound Transit bringing light rail one step closer to Federal Way.
The Federal Way Chamber of Commerce will also host a roundtable event from 10-11 a.m. on May 12 in the Chamber board room, 31919 First Ave. S., Suite 202. Registration is required at www.federalwaychamber.com.
The council anticipates adopting a resolution with the council’s preferred alignment by May 19.
