South King Fire and Rescue will host its annual Fire Station Night for Scouts from 5 to 8 p.m. April 29 at the headquarters station, 31617 1st Ave. S.
It’s an opportunity for scouts to learn about what happens at a fire station. Scouts can also purchase a custom fit bike helmet for $7, attend a bicycle safety class (which earns them a merit badge), learn about Federal Way police bicycle patrol and get a child ID.
Those who attend can practice escaping from a smoke-filled house, try on firefighting gear, climb on the fire trucks and eat hot dogs.
New this year is a high-angle rope rescue presentation, where firefighters demonstrate how to rescue people at high angles and extricate trapped patients from vehicle collisions.
