From staff reports:

Federal Way Public Schools (FWPS) announced on its website that $735,000 in student fees have been eliminated for the upcoming 2013-14 school year.

According to the district, “the final budget adopted by the school board eliminates many of the student fees the district charged in recent years, and was made possible by state funding.”

Among those costs eliminated for students and families are physical education uniforms, required workbooks and publications, technology fees, planner fees, instrument rental fees, and career and technical course fees.

Costs that students and families will still be asked to take on include “athletics, traffic safety, tuition-based all-day kindergarten, preschool tuition and school lunches.”
