Recycling event this Sat.

Residents can recycle their old appliances and other goods from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 27 at the Twin Lakes Park and Ride, at 21st Avenue Southwest and Southwest 344th Street.

Appliances, scrap metal, petroleum products, clean wood, batteries, tires, electronics, wires and cords will be accepted. New this year, the event will offer a means for getting rid of nursery pots, flower pots, flats, greenhouse sheeting and clean packing peanuts.

Most items will be accepted free. A $10 fee will be applicable to computer monitors, refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners. A $20-$25 fee will apply to televisions. The event is sponsored by the City of Federal Way using grants from the Washington State Department of Ecology and the King County Local Hazardous Waste Management Program.
