Douglas P. Jones, 25, was charged Thursday with malicious harassment and is being held at the King County Jail on 25,000 bail for a Sept. 14 assault, based on race, of a Pakistani Federal Way 7-Eleven clerk.
Jones entered the store, called the clerk a derogatory name, told him to “go back home,” and assaulted him, according to reports. Jones was apprehended at an apartment complex in the 400 block of South 321st Place the same day.
He resisted arrest and once inside the patrol car escaped by maneuvering through the Plexiglas partition, then opening a front door. He fled on foot but was apprehended a second time with the help of a K-9 unit.
Jones has prior court convictions, beginning in 2003, according to court documents. He is considered a flight risk, according to the same documents. Jones’ bail was set at $25,000. He will be arraigned Sept. 30 at the King County courthouse in Kent.
