The Federal Way Police Department is scheduled to have a Gold Standard on-site assessment as part of a program to achieve reaccreditation. This is done by verifying the department continues to to meet professional law enforcement standards.
The accreditation program requires the agencies to comply with state-of-the-art standards in four basic areas: policy and procedures, administration, operations and support.
Agency members and employees, as well as members of the community, are all invited to offer comments at a public information session at 5 p.m. Aug. 7 at the Patrick Maher Room at Federal Way City Hall, 33325 Eighth Ave. S.
