Primary election results: Maloney and Moore lead council races; Gregory leads school board race

King County Elections has reported the initial results of the Aug. 6, 2013, primary election. Below are results from Federal Way races as of Tuesday night. Votes are still being counted. Results will be certified Aug. 20.

Federal Way City Council position 2

• Kelly Maloney: 51.56 percent

• Mark Koppang: 31.99 percent

• Anthony Murrietta: 16.11 percent

Notes: Maloney was appointed to the city council in January 2013 to fill a vacant position. She is running to retain her seat.

Federal Way City Council position 6

• Martin Moore: 46.37 percent

• Diana Noble-Gulliford: 40.27 percent

• Ryan Miller: 13.02 percent

Notes: Noble-Gulliford was appointed to the city council in January 2013 to fill a vacant position. She is running to retain her seat.

Moore and Noble-Gulliford also emailed statements to The Mirror.

“I’m deeply humbled by the confidence of voters as their first choice in yesterday’s primary and am especially appreciative of all of the help from supporters,” Moore wrote. “We knew this would be a challenging campaign, but I believe our message of bringing a different style of leadership and a more accessible city government prevailed. We’ve been working hard to meet people across Federal Way, and I’m looking forward to continuing to meet with citizens as we move to the general election.”

“I feel confident that I will win in the general election,” Noble-Gulliford wrote. “Federal Way voters want a knowledgeable leader with integrity. It is very clear that this is what stands out as the difference between myself and my opponent.”

Federal Way School Board position 4

• Carol Gregory: 45.19 percent

• Medgar Wells: 36.85 percent

• K. Lance Barton: 17.53 percent

Notes: This school board position is being vacated by Angela Griffin, who will not seek another term.
