Over 500 youth ages 14-18, including 90 teens from Federal Way, will come together June 24-25 to produce a modern-day musical called “Pressing Forward with a Steadfastness in Christ.”
The event will be held June 24-25 at the White River Amphitheatre, 40601 Auburn Enumclaw Rd. SE, Auburn. In addition to the Friday and Saturday evening performances from 8-10 p.m., there will be dress rehearsals, workshops and speakers all day Thursday, Friday and Saturday starting at 8 a.m.
“This will be an amazing opportunity for youth in our community to come together and get to know each other, as well as learn all the behind-the-scenes of what it takes to put on a production of this size,” said 2016 Youth Conference representative Steven Hansen. “There is amazing community-building around sharing on stage through song and dance that ‘Pressing Forward’ toward our Savior brings us hope, love for one another and eternal life.”
The production is part of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ national and international 2016 Youth Conference initiative. The conferences encourage community members to participate in a local production around the “Pressing Forward” theme, which is a nod to 2 Nephi 31:20 in the Book of Mormon.
The Auburn production will also feature 11 adults from Federal Way, as well as youths from Maple Valley, Kent and Renton. All are welcome; youths interested in participating are encouraged to register at www.2016pressforward.org.
