Local police are looking for a man who recently robbed espresso stands in Federal Way, Sumner and two in Kent.
Federal Way’s Jump Start Espresso, 27404 Pacific Highway S., was robbed on June 26 after the suspect drove up to a drive thru window and demanded the barista to give him “all the cash.” The suspect was pointing a semiautomatic black pistol at the barista. She complied and gave him the cash register’s money.
Investigators have identified that the same suspect is also responsible for espresso stand robberies in Ketnt and Sumner.
The suspect first tried to rob a stand on June 24 in the 20900 block of 108th Avenue Southeast in Kent but failed, according to a Kent police. The same man reportedly robbed a stand a few minutes later in the 1200 block of Central Avenue North, also in Kent. On June 25, the man returned to the first stand and this time robbed it.
Witnesses reported that he pointed a gun at the baristas, threatened to shoot and demanded money. In each incident, the suspect was given an undisclosed amount of cash.
Barista employees described the suspect as being a thin white male, in his early 20s, wearing large sunglasses and an Afro-type wig with a fake black beard. The suspect was described as possibly having a Ukrainian/Russian accent and wore black gloves with yellow stripes during the Federal Way robbery.
The truck has been identified as a stolen tan- or gold-colored 2005 Ford F-350 crew cab with a California license plate of 42431B1. The truck has distinguishing characteristics that include a lift kit, a dark-colored tailgate, a front brush guard and a spotlight at the driver’s side window. The same truck has been described in each robbery.
Investigators are working to identify the involved suspect and locate the vehicle but need the public’s help. Anyone who spots the vehicle or has information regarding these incidents should call 911 or the Federal Way Police Department tip line at 253-835- 2121.
