Police return escapee from Western State Hospital | Federal Way crime blotter

Following is a sample from the Federal Way police log:

• Western State escapee: At 12:29 p.m. Jan. 30 in the 1600 block of Southwest 324th Place, police attempted a welfare check on a person who escaped from Western State Hospital. The reporting person told police he or she picked up the escapee the night before and gave the person shelter. The subject was transported back to the hospital.

• Abuse at home: At 4:13 p.m. Jan. 22 at an undisclosed location on 22nd Place South, a suspect told police he was afraid to go home because he feared his mother would abuse him. During an interview, the suspect also revealed to police that he forced his younger sister to touch him sexually.

• Prostitution: At 9:01 p.m. Jan. 27 in the 27600 block of Pacific Highway South, a female was arrested for prostitution.

• Residential burglary: At 7:14 p.m. Jan. 27 in the 37000 block of 22nd Avenue South, a residential burglary was reported. Living room glass was shattered and items, mostly jewelry, were stolen.

• Bank robbery: At 2:12 p.m. Jan. 27 at 32000 Pacific Highway South, a suspect robbed a bank. He or she escaped.

• Pawn shop mix-up: At 3:53 p.m. Jan. 27 in the 33000 block of Pacific Highway South, a person came to pick up a laptop that he or she had left at a pawn shop. The person was told by an employee that the laptop had already been picked up. The laptop’s owner still possessed the pawn slip needed to recover the merchandise.

• Disturbing threat: At 5:30 p.m. Jan. 28 in the 35500 block of Pacific Highway South, an unknown male called a victim on his or her cell phone and threatened to kill the victim with a gun.

• Reckless driving: At 11:07 p.m. Jan. 29 in the 100 block of Southwest Campus Drive, officers responded to an apartment complex where witnesses reported a person recklessly driving. The driver struck a curb and a sign.

• Assault: At 9:11 p.m. Jan. 29 in the 32900 block of 1st Avenue South, police responded to a report of an assault. The victim stated he or she was assaulted by a known acquaintance after a heated discussion about youth soccer.

• Vehicle accident: At 8:32 a.m. Jan. 30 at 2440 South 273rd Place, it was reported that Washington State Patrol found a vehicle on the side of Interstate 5. There was substantial damage and vehicle appeared to be involved in an accident. A person was found in the passenger seat of the vehicle.
