Police investigating after teen found dead in Federal Way park

The 13-year-old boy’s body was found around 7:30 a.m. on Nov. 3.

Federal Way police are investigating a homicide after a 13-year-old boy was found dead in a park on Wednesday morning.

At about 7:30 a.m. Nov. 3 near the 37200 block of 20th Avenue South, Federal Way officers responded to the scene where a deceased person was found in a park.

Though the person has not yet been identified, the victim appears to be a Black male in his teens, according to Cmdr. Tracy Grossnickle of FWPD. The boy was identified as a 13-year-old on Nov. 4 by police.

The teen appears to have been shot, but police are still investigating, he added.

This case is being investigated as a homicide. So far, police say there have not been any reports of a missing or runaway teenager in the community.

Detectives from Federal Way’s Criminal Investigations Section (CIS) are committed to completing a thorough investigation, Grossnickle said.
