Following is a sample from the Federal Way police log:

• Counterfeit ring exposed: At 6:34 p.m. May 13 at 1928 S. Commons, a man attempted to pass a fake $50 in the mall. Staff noticed the bill was fake and the man was arrested while he ate at the location. He had four more counterfeit bills in his possession and an investigation revealed the suspect is allegedly part of a ring that prints counterfeit $50 bills on real $5 bills.

• Craigslist theft: At 12:45 p.m. May 12 in the 33500 block of 18th Avenue South, a man’s trailer was stolen. The item was listed on Craigslist by a third party. The trailer was later recovered without a license plate.

• Arson fire: At 8:25 p.m. May 13 at 5300 S.W. 324th Place, police were called to the scene of an arson. A person reported he saw an extinguished fire that was set to a trailhead sign in a local park.

• Jewelry thieves: At 5:22 p.m. May 13 at 1928 S. Commons, two suspects stole approximately eight gold rings valued at about $1,500 from an unattended kiosk.

• False abuse claim: At 3:03 p.m. May 12 at 1900 S.W. Campus Drive, a 15-year-old female reported she was struck by her father. The juvenile was interviewed and police determined her accusations did not match the minor bruise she displayed. Child Protective Services was notified of the claim.

• Lewd act: At 10:26 a.m. May 13 in the 1300 block of Southwest Campus Drive, a witness reported a man nude from the waist down was manipulating his genitals in public. Police located the suspect and found him with a string attached to his penis.

• Sex offender fails to register: At 7:06 p.m. May 14 in the 1000 block of South 317th Street, police performed a routine sex offender address confirmation and found the residence in which the offender was listed as residing empty. The residence has been vacant for four months. Police forwarded charges to the King County Prosecutor’s Office.

• Missing mom: At 6:09 p.m. May 14 in the 900 block of Southwest Campus Drive, a mother sent her 5-year-old child to an apartment complex alone in a taxi. The driver left the child with a woman found in the parking lot at the complex. Police were unable to locate the child’s mother and left the kid with his or her aunt. A Child Protective Services referral was made.

• Granddaughter charges debit card: At 12:02 p.m. May 15 in the 31400 block of 23rd Avenue South, a victim reported her granddaughter made several unauthorized charges to her debit card while she was living with the victim for three months.

• Gunpoint robbery: At 5:39 p.m. May 15 at 1436 S. 312th St., a victim reported she was robbed at gunpoint of a bank deposit containing about $120,000 in cash, money orders and checks. The suspect was not located.
