Police arrest suspect in early morning hotel shooting

The Federal Way Police Department reported that a 23-year-old woman was shot in the back early Thursday morning, and that the injuries were non-life threatening. Police learned of the attack when the victim arrived at St. Francis Hospital seeking treatment for the gunshot wound.

The Federal Way Police Department reported that a 23-year-old woman was shot in the back early Thursday morning, and that the injuries were non-life threatening. Police learned of the attack when the victim arrived at St. Francis Hospital seeking treatment for the gunshot wound.

According to police, the victim claimed she was shot during a robbery in the parking lot of the Super 8 Hotel in Federal Way. At this time, there is no motive for the robbery.

Federal Way police identified a suspect and moved to take the suspect into custody in the vicinity of the 3700 block of South 360th Street in Federal Way. Two nearby schools, Lakeland Elementary and Sequoyah Middle School, were placed under lockdown as police deployed a SWAT team to arrest the suspect. The lockdown has since been lifted.

Federal Way police report the suspect was taken into custody without incident, and will be booked into either King County Jail or the SCORE jail facility following questioning.
