Oregon man, 45, dies in Federal Way crash

At about 10 a.m. June 20, a man from Astoria, Oregon, died in a fatal vehicle crash in Federal Way.

According to King County and the Washington State Patrol, 45-year-old David Whisenhunt died in a two-vehicle collision while driving on northbound Interstate 5.

According to the state patrol, Whisenhunt was in a car, while a truck was disabled on northbound I-5 at South 288th Street on the right-hand shoulder. The vehicle driven by Whisenhunt was traveling northbound, approaching 288th Street, when he suddenly left the roadway for an unknown reason. The state patrol reports said that the vehicle driven by Whisenhunt then began driving on the shoulder and struck the truck.

The roadway was blocked for approximately four hours and 28 minutes. The state patrol reported that it was unknown if drugs or alcohol were involved. The deceased driver wore a seatbelt.
