Three new Federal Way Police Department officers were sworn in at Tuesday’s City Council meeting: officer Dock White, officer Maddie Morikawa and officer Eric Olson.
White was hired as a lateral police officer on March 1. He has 21 years of law enforcement experience. He previously worked for the Federal Way Police Department and has returned after a 10-year absence. He left in 2006 to return to his family in Lewiston, Idaho, where he continued his law enforcement career at Lewiston PD and attained the rank of sergeant.
Officer Morikawa was hired as a lateral police officer on April 1, and is another returning officer. Morikawa has returned to Federal Way Police after a short stint of retirement in 2015. Prior to leaving the agency, Morikawa worked as a Persons Crimes Detective, working major crimes. She is married to another Federal Way officer, Gordon Morikawa, and has two adult sons. She has 36 years of law enforcement experience.
Officer Olson is an entry-level police officer, recently graduating from the police academy in April. Prior to being hired as a police officer, Olson was a member of the United States Army for four years and worked as a cryptologic Indonesian linguist. He was awarded an Army Commendation Medal for superior intelligence collection while deployed in Operation Inherent Resolve-Iraq, and achieved and maintains a top secret security clearance.
