Neighbor points gun at 12-year-old boy | Police blotter

Following is a sample from the Federal Way police log May 25-June 1.

May 25

Stolen gems, coins: At about 12:11 p.m. near the 32700 block of Pacific Highway South, a business owner reported his store was broken into and the suspect stole a box of gemstones and a bag of silver coins. The approximate value of the stolen items is over $20,000.

Rifle stolen from storage unit: At about 6:06 p.m. near the 32615 block of Pacific Highway South, a storage unit was broken into and the suspect stole a rifle and ammunition.

May 26

Woman with knife: At about 3:20 p.m. near the 30629 block of 4th Ave. South, police responded to reports of a domestic dispute. A woman was seen chasing a man down the street with a large knife in her hand.

May 27

Officers hit: At about 6:10 p.m. near the 2016 block of S. 320th Street, a man struck two officers.

May 28

Man assaulted with metal pipe: At about 12:18 a.m. near the 900 block of S. 348th Street, officers responded to a fight at the Metro Park & Ride. The suspect had used a metal pipe to assault the victim, but the suspect was gone upon police arrival. The assault occurred in a wooded area where there is a transient encampment. The officer established probable cause for second-degree assault. The case was then forwarded to King County Sheriff’s Office as the crime occurred in their jurisdiction.

Man with gun: At about 8:42 p.m. near the 952 block of SW Campus Drive, a suspect was lawfully detained during an investigation. While detained, the suspect fled on foot but was then apprehended. The suspect assaulted and injured an arresting officer. Later, the suspect was found to be in possession of a loaded firearm in violation of an existing domestic violence court order.

May 29

Suspect punches employee: At about 3:56 p.m. near the 1920 block of S. Commons, four suspects entered the Champs Sports store inside the mall. One suspect stole a pair of shoes while another stole clothing items. The suspects ran from the store and the employees chased after them. An employee caught up to one of the suspects and was punched in the face several times by the suspect when the employee pulled the stolen items from the suspect.

May 30

Neighbor points gun at boy: At about 6:26 p.m. near the 32300 block of 4th Place South, a 12-year-old boy reported his neighbor pointed a gun at him. Officers arrived on scene and took statements from several witnesses. The suspect was located and placed under arrest. A search warrant was conducted on the residence to locate the firearm the suspect admittedly used during the crime.

June 1

Reckless burning: At about 5:30 a.m. near the 33600 block o Pacific Highway South, officers witnesses a fire burning in the roadway. South King Fire & Rescue crews had just cleared another fire in the same area. The suspect was found and placed under arrest. The suspect was then booked into SCORE Jail.
