One man is in critical condition after an 81-year-old driver hit the motorcyclist after failing to yield while making a left turn in Federal Way on Thursday afternoon.
At about 3:15 p.m. on Oct. 29, Federal Way patrol officers responded to a car versus motorcycle collision on 21st Avenue SW just south of the intersection with SW Campus Drive, said Cmdr. Kurt Schwan of FWPD.
The motorcycle rider, a 30-year-old man, sustained life-threatening injuries and the rider is in critical condition in the ICU with serious head and internal injuries at Harborview Medical Center, Schwan said.
Based on preliminary investigation, police determined the vehicle’s driver, an 81-year-old woman, failed to yield the right of way while making a left turn into the Safeway grocery store parking lot.
There is no evidence at this time that drug or alcohol impairment was factor in this collision and Federal Way’s Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating the collision, Schwan said.
