A 44-year-old motorcyclist has died after being struck from behind in a hit-and-run collision on Monday in Federal Way.
At about 4:52 p.m. Aug. 1, officers responded to a three-vehicle collision in the 35200 block of 21st Avenue SW, said Cmdr. Cary Murphy of the Federal Way Police Department.
A motorcyclist was stopped in a northbound lane of traffic to make a turn when he was struck by a vehicle from behind. The motorcyclist was forced into oncoming southbound traffic where he was then struck by another vehicle, Murphy said.
According to police, the driver of the motorcycle, a 44-year-old man from Sea-Tac, was transported to Harborview Medical Center. He died as a result of his injuries on Aug. 3.
According to police records, the driver of the vehicle that struck the motorcyclist fled and was not located.
The Federal Way Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T) is actively investigating this collision and as the investigation progresses, additional information will become available.
