More than 1,000 residents attended the grand opening of Federal Way’s first downtown park, Town Square Park, on Saturday afternoon.

More than 1,000 residents attended the grand opening of Town Square Park — Federal Way’s first downtown park — on Saturday afternoon.

Mayor Jim Ferrell and Council members kicked off the festivities with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Community Center staff led kids’ activities, including face painting, tug-o-war, bubble blowing and water balloon tossing.

Town Square Park is located across the street from the Transit Center, at 31600 20th Ave. S.
