Following is a sample from the Federal Way police log:
• Kid left in the car: At 1:46 a.m. Sept. 4 at 28845 Military Road South, a mother was arrested when she left her 1-year-old daughter in the car while she was inside a pub.
• Hired to spy: At 2:10 a.m. Sept. 3 in the 4200 block of Southwest 328th Court, a person reported a suspicious subject seen walking in a nearby yard. Police contacted the suspect, who said he was spying on a woman at the request of her ex-husband.
• Golf cart joy riding: At 5:01 p.m. Sept. 3 at 3583 S.W. 320th St., a suspect used bolt cutters to cut a lock and gain access to golf carts. One was taken off the property.
• Mom/son dispute: At 4:32 p.m. Sept. 4 in the 30800 block of 11th Avenue Southwest, a mother reported her son threw a knife at her. He also threatened to throw a brick at the woman.
• Questionable contract: At 11:12 a.m. Sept. 4 in the 29500 block of Pacific Highway South, two business owners reported they thought they bought their new restaurant in its entirety for $16,000. They later learned they only purchased the rights to the restaurant, not the building or inventory.
• School zone speeder: At 8:46 a.m. Sept. 4 at 2400 S. Star Lake Road, a suspect was stopped for speeding in a school zone. The driver had a suspended license and was arrested.
• Barista is threatened: At 3:35 p.m. Sept. 5 at 35500 Enchanted Parkway South, a barista at a coffee stand was approached by an unknown man who asked for $1. The barista refused to give the man money. He threatened to rob the coffee stand or nearby gas station.
• Sex offender registers: At 12:07 p.m. Sept. 5 in the 2200 block of South 333rd Street, a level 3 sex offender registered.
