A celebration of the late Panther Lake Elementary principal Tom Capp will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 18, at Sherwood Forest Elementary School, 34600 12th Ave. S.W. The memorial is open to the public.
Capp died May 27 following complications with kidney cancer and liver disease. He was 51 years old. Capp leaves behind a wife, Karen, and three children. They moved to Federal Way in 1995, where he started in the school district as a teacher for gifted and talented students.
Capp, a native of Butte, Montana, previously served as principal at Wildwood and Sunnycrest elementary schools in Federal Way. He was well-liked for his sense of humor and positive outlook.
“He just put so much life and humor in everything he did. He was beloved by teachers, students and fellow principals,” said Barbara Bergman, Sherwood Forest principal and longtime colleague. “It was just such a joy to team with him and know Tom. … He’ll be dearly, dearly missed.”
A funeral service will be held June 25 in Butte. For more details, check Tom Capp’s Facebook page.
