Mayor’s Day of Concern for the Hungry: Sept. 26

The City of Federal Way is seeking volunteers to collect food at the annual Mayor’s Day of Concern for the Hungry on Sept. 26 at local grocery stores. There are two shifts to choose from: 8:45 a.m. to noon or 11:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Volunteers are needed to distribute information to shoppers at area grocery stores. Shoppers then purchase items for the food bank while doing their own grocery shopping.

Last year, more than 15,000 pounds of food were collected for the food bank at Federal Way’s Multi-Service Center. The city is especially looking for small groups of 8 to 15 people to “adopt a store” and fill every volunteer shift at that location. For more information or to volunteer, contact Jennifer Teeler at (253) 835-2652 or vnp@cityoffederalway.com.
