From staff reports:
The annual Mayor’s Day of Concern for the Hungry returns Sept. 22 in Federal Way.
Volunteers will be stationed at grocery stores from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday to accept donations from shoppers.
Participating local grocery stores include Fred Meyer (Twin Lakes), Albertsons, Safeway (S. 320th and the Twin Lakes locations), Top Foods, and both Wal-Mart locations (S. 314th Street and S. 348th Street).
Federal Way is joining with Multi-Service Center’s Federal Way Food Bank and the Emergency Feeding Program of Seattle-King County to help feed families and individuals struggling to make ends meet. Last year, the Mayor’s Day of Concern for the Hungry collected 13,099 pounds of donated food.
