Marlene’s Market will host a Backyard Composting and Worm Bin class at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24.

Laura Matter from Seattle Tilth will show participants how to set up and maintain a “red wiggler” worm composting bin. She’ll share the benefits of worm castings, worm tea and resources to get started. The class will also cover ways to turn lawn clippings, fall leaves and plant trimmings into nutrient-rich compost using a backyard compost bin.

A door prize include a 36-inch home composting bin worth $130. The city of Federal way Recycling department is sponsoring the class, which will be located in the Marlene’s Market training room, located at 2565 S. Gateway Center Place in Federal Way.
