Larry Fazzari, a program supervisor for Title 1 and LAP, presented Mark Twain Elementary School Principal Doug Rutherford with a plaque Thursday for the school’s three consecutive years of continued improvement in reading.
Mark Twain Elementary was one of six schools statewide that were chosen for the 2009-10 Title 1 Part A Academic Achievement Award, which also came with a $10,000 check for the school.
Early in the assembly, dozens of Mark Twain students were recognized for their improvements in reading. Many students have made 18 months worth of reading level improvements just in a few months.
