From staff reports:
Puget Sound Energy (PSE) is offering electric customers who live in manufactured homes that use “forced-air” as their primary heat source the chance to get a number of free upgrades to their heating systems by sealing up leaky ducts.
According to PSE, the service has up to a $500 value, and could result in energy bills being reduced by up to 30 percent.
PSE is also offering other energy efficiency upgrades for free to King County residents in Auburn, Bothell, Duvall, Enumclaw, Federal Way, Issaquah, Kent, Maple Valley, Renton, Vashon Island and other areas in the region.
PSE cites the need for the program because “four out of five manufactured homes have leaking heating and cooling systems.” PSE estimates there are 8,100 manufactured homes in King County who are PSE electric customers and are eligible for the free service.
The utility provider notes that owners of manufactured homes who have received previous energy efficiency upgrades are not eligible for this program. As mentioned already, those eligible are manufactured home owners who are PSE customers, and use “electric forced-air as the primary heat source.”
PSE has teamed up with UCONS, LLC for this program, and indicates UCONS representatives will be going door-to-door with flyers about this program in the near future.
