• Spitting leads to ticket: At 3:44 a.m. July 15 in the 31000 block of 23rd Avenue South, police responded to a report of a man spitting on another man. Upon arrival, the suspect denied spitting on the other man, but did spit in the presence of the police officers. The suspect was cited for that, and promptly stated he would not appear in court for his citation.

• Menacing graffiti: At 12:36 a.m. July 15 in the 32000 block of 17th Avenue SW, a patrolling officer discovered a graffiti tag that read “187 Cop.” The officer discovered a number of similar tags in the general vicinity. The report notes that 187 is the police code for murder in the state of California.

• Liquor thief: At 4:44 p.m. July 15 in the 1200 block South 320th Street, an unknown suspect entered a store and stole three bottles of Crown Royal valued at approximately $114. The report notes the suspect left in a red convertible Cadillac coupe.

• Sparkler bomb in street: At 5:03 p.m. July 15 in the 4200 block of SW 38th Street, the reporting party alerted police that he had discovered a “sparkler bomb” in the street out front of his house. The reporting party believed it may have been placed there due to his reporting a disruptive party earlier in the week. The report notes that the reporting party disposed of the sparklers himself.

• Vehicle break-in: At 4:57 p.m. July 15 in the 1900 block of South Commons, unknown suspects broke into the victim’s car and stole a metal detector valued at $2,000.

• Purse left behind gets stolen: At 5:26 p.m. July 15 in the 2400 block of South 312th Street, a woman reported that her purse had been stolen. According to the report, the woman had left her purse in the restroom facilities at Steel Lake Park. By the time she remembered this and went to find it, the purse had been taken. The report notes that the woman had $200 and multiple prescription medications in her purse at the time of the theft.

• Strange book left for woman: At 7:32 p.m. July 15 in the 2100 block of South 324th Street, a woman contacted police regarding a book that had been left on her doorstep by an unknown person. According to the report, the book was titled “Predator” and is a story about a rapist. The woman was understandably unnerved and contacted police, who filed the book into evidence.

• Woman survives taser attack: At 10:32 p.m. July 15 in the 29000 block of 18th Avenue South, police responded to a 911 hangup call. After locating where the call came from, police found the victim. According to the report, the victim had been attacked over 20 times with a taser by her ex-boyfriend.

• Video game leads to argument: At 11:11 p.m. July 15 in the 3000 block of South 288th Street, a husband and wife got into a heated argument while playing Nintendo Wii. The report notes the argument was verbal only.

• Failed break-in: At 4:44 a.m. July 14 in the 2300 block of SW 336th Street, police responded to an alarm at a liquor store. According to the report, it appeared someone had attempted to throw a rock through the store’s main window. The window was not completely broken, and it appeared that no one had made an attempt to gain entry.
