Man shot in leg, refuses to cooperate

Incident occurred near S. 288th St. and Pacific Hwy.

A man got shot in the leg on Saturday, June 29, and then refused to cooperate with Federal Way police.

According to Federal Way Police Department Cmdr. Bryan Klingele, at about 5:31 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of South 288th Street and Pacific Highway South. According to the Federal Way Crime Map, the incident occurred at Starbucks on 28722 Pacific Hwy. S., Federal Way.

Klingele said that upon arrival, officers learned that they were involved in a dispute that escalated to violence. One of the adults shot the other in the leg, then fled the scene. The area was diligently searched, but the suspect was not located, according to Klingele’s email. Additionally, the victim’s gunshot wound to the leg was found to be non-life threatening, and the victim declined to assist in an investigation.

No threat to the community is present, and the investigation will continue, but no further updates are expected, according to Klingele’s email.
