The following is a sample of the Federal Way Police Blotter:
Creepy Caller: At 12:11 a.m. Aug. 2 in the 900 block of Southwest Campus Drive, police received a report stating an unknown caller said, “Your sister will pay for what she has done.” The call was taken by the homeowner’s 90-year-old mother and believes the subject might have been her nephew but was not sure.
Mystery motorcycle man: At 5:45 a.m. Aug. 2 in the 1900 block of Southwest Campus Drive, officers attempted a traffic stop on a motorcycle for transporting a passenger without a helmet. The driver of the motorcycle went up on the rear wheel and dumped the passenger on the ground and sped off. Police were unable to read the motorcycle license plate because there was a towel tucked into the pants of the passenger. The passenger sustained a bruised knee. They said they did not know the driver of the motorcycle.
LA Fitness car thief: At 9:16 a.m. Aug. 1 on Enchanted Parkway South, three different vehicles had their windows smashed in the LA Fitness parking lot. Things taken included wallets and multiple credit cards. One of the victims told police four of his credit/debit cards have been charged over $7,000 at Fred Meyer. Security footage showed a black SUV pulling up to the cars, making entry and then later leaving. At Fred Meyer, security footage showed two unknown black males wearing black hoodies, sweatshirts and white shoes buying $500 Visa gift cards from the self-checkout stand. Both suspects covered thier faces and looked away from the cameras.
Child runs away: At 12:27 a.m. Aug. 1 in the 200 block of South 316th Lane, a mother called to report her child was missing. The child ran away after the mother did not let one of her friends spend the night. The child was later located at her aunt’s residence.
Bullet hole reported: At 8:20 p.m. Aug. 1 in the 29400 block of Pacific Highway South, an officer responded to the listed address because it was reported there was a bullet hole in a bedroom wall. Upon investigation, it was determined that the bullet entered the apartment from the parking lot. No other damage was reported other than the wall and a picture frame. The officer checked the apartment but could not find the exit point of the bullet, indicating the bullet was still in the wall.
Candidate signs missing: At 10:19 a.m. July 31 in the 33300 block of Eighth Avenue South, a candidate running for office reported about 100 of his signs he put up were missing. He drove around the city over the course of the weekend and could not locate them. There is no suspect information.
Not-so-happy birthday: At 3:08 p.m. July 31 in the 31000 block of Ninth Avenue South, an officer responded to a call made by a female, saying the father of her child came by the house to see their child on his birthday. When she refused to let him in, the father broke through an open screened window, damaging the screen. He then entered the residence. The man was later found to have a confirmed Seattle warrant for driving without an interlock device. He was booked into SCORE Jail.
Not-so-friendly neighbors: At 3:05 p.m. July 30 in the 34500 block of 25th Avenue Southwest, officers responded to a dispute between neighbors. Upon arrival, a female informed the officer that her neighbor was outside mowing his lawn and rocks were being thrown from his lawn mower in her direction. She told her neighbor to stop twice and that he should rake the rocks before mowing his lawn, but he just made obscene gestures toward her. She said she felt he was doing this on purpose, although there is a fence in between houses.
Don’t take my car: At 2:36 a.m. July 30 in the 38400 block of Pacific Highway South, police were informed that a man got in an argument with an owner of a vehicle he was towing. The vehicle was already being lifted prior to the argument. During the confrontation, the owner of the car got into the driver’s seat of the car being towed. The sudden weight shift caused his rear bumper to crack. No injuries were reported.
Man robbed, slashed with box cutter: At 2:47 a.m. July 29 in the 3700 block of South 320th Street, fire personnel reported a man was robbed and cut with a knife. Police arrived and observed an intoxicated male with a wrapped hand and blood. He said he was breaking change for a stranger at an ARCO, when the stranger began to drive off. The man jumped on his car, and, after driving a short distance, the driver pulled out a box cutter and started slashing at the man’s hand. The man got off the moving car and walked to the fire station. The man was uncooperative with the police. He was voluntarily transported to St. Francis for treatment.
Relative’s behavior creepy: At 11:20 a.m. July 29 on South 329th Place, a female reported that over the past 18 months, a male relative has hugged her and touched her in ways that made her feel uncomfortable. On separate incidents, he “flicked her with his finger and kissed her on the neck while hugging her from behind.” The woman reported she has been living with her mother and the relative off and on over the past two years. The man said he never had sexual contact with the woman, nor ever threatened or assaulted her.
The cardboard sign: At 11:27 a.m. July 29 at the 34000 of Hoyt Road Southwest, Starbucks called the police to report a suspicious sign displayed on a fence near the parking lot. The cardboard sign read, “Help I’m dying check behind the garage.” Officers were called to the location and contacted a female laying behind the dumpster area, hidden in bushes. She was laying in the garbage and had her belongings surrounding her. She had no visible injuries. She told officers she had been “stuck” there for three weeks, yelling for help. Customers frequently brought her food and drinks, but 911 was never called.
Man was scammed: at 2:23 p.m. July 29 in the 32800 block of Fourth Avenue Southwest, a man reported he was contacted by a female over the phone, who said she was from Denver. She said she needed help after she was put in jail. The man willingly forward $2,000 to her via MoneyGram. The man was then contacted by Diamond Services Company saying he needed to sign and pay for his package from Nigeria, totalling $9,500. The man said he did not care about the $2,000 he lost but wanted to document the incident further as he realized he was scammed.
Car fire and arrest: At 3:26 p.m. July 28 in the 2700 block of South 317th Street, officers responded to a car fire in progress. During the investigation, the driver of the car was contacted and discovered to have a kidnapping warrant. The driver was detained and booked into SCORE Jail, and the vehicle was towed. The driver’s two children were transported to their mother at Burger King.
False alarm: At 9:25 a.m. July 28 in the 800 block of South 333rd Street, police were informed a man was attempting to flag down passing cars to report a possible kidnapping and rape. The male was yelling out loud for people to call the police. The suspect was located but was yelling and uncooperative. When asked who was kidnapped, he pointed to a random RV parked nearby. The occupants of the RV were contacted, and it was confirmed that there were no problems inside. The male continued to yell and flag people down and refused to identify himself. He walked away without any further incident.
Father and son argue: At 12:58 P.M. July 27 in the 30000 block of 10th Avenue Southwest, a woman reported a domestic dispute between her husband and son. She said her son had a knife, and her husband went to get his .38. Officers arrived and and contacted all parties, who were standing in the driveway. No one was injured. Police learned the son has drug problems and during the argument grabbed a knife in the kitchen. The father went upstairs to get his gun for protection, although it was not loaded. No threats were made by either party, although the son did make a throwing gesture with the knife toward his father and laughed.
I want the pool to myself: At 8:14 p.m. July 27 in the 33100 block of First Place Southwest, a 14-year-old boy called 911 to report harassment. The boy went to swim in the pool at an apartment complex, when a black male approached and confronted him. He told the boy that he needs to leave the pool and mentioned that he has a badge and a gun. The boy left the pool, returned home and called the police. He said that he did not think the male was going to carry out his threats but wanted to frighten him into leaving.
Break-up ends badly: At 10:36 a.m. July 27 in the 5700 block of Southwest Dash Point Road, police were informed that a girl’s boyfriend cut himself on the wrist after the girl informed the boy she wanted to break up. South King Fire & Rescue arrived to evaluate the boyfriend, and transporting him to the hospital for treatment.
Dog found injured: At 2:13 a.m. July 27 on South 312th Street, an officer was dispatched to an animal complaint. The officer contacted the reporting party, who said he found a small dog laying on the shoulder of the roadway and appeared to be injured. The officer found the dog was bleeding from his muzzle and looked to have suffered some sort of head trauma. The dog was transported to an animal hospital. It had no collar, and its owner is unknown.
