The following is a sample from the Federal Way police log:
Burglars steal diamonds, cash: At 9 p.m. on Sept. 7 in the 32000 block of 11th Ave. SW, unknown suspects forced entry into a private residence by shattering a rear window. The suspects fled in an unknown direction with the victim’s property, which included two handguns, $20,000 in cash, $15,000 in diamonds and approximately three-and-a-half pounds of marijuana.
Man trespassed from bar smashes mirror: At 1:54 a.m. on Sept. 7 at 2002 SW Campus Drive, an officer responding to a suspicious circumstance call contacted the bartender, who advised him that a customer punched the bathroom mirror after he was asked to leave. The mirror was destroyed. The customer severely cut his hand and then left in an unknown vehicle. The officer located a significant amount of blood outside of the restaurant. Dispatch then advised the officer that a male at Jersey’s Sports Bar was bleeding from his hand. The officer responded to the bar and spoke with security.
Someone pours mysterious purple liquid over cars: At 9:55 a.m. on Sept. 7 at 27830 Pacific Highway S., two victims awoke to discover their vehicles were vandalized. Someone poured a purple liquid all over both vehicles. The gas cap on one of the vehicles was open and it appeared as though the suspect may have also poured the liquid in her gas tank, the report notes. However, it did not appear the suspect was able to get into the other woman’s gas tank. Police did not locate any suspects or witnesses.
Juvenile punches, shoves relative: At 10:20 a.m. on Sept. 7 in the 32200 block of 16th Ave. SW, a victim reported that her juvenile relative punched her in the face, causing injury to her left eye. He also shoved her into a closet, causing pain to her knee. King County Engine 62 responded and medics provided aid to the victim. The suspect was arrested and later released back to his parents’ custody. Per King County Juvenile Detention, the suspect did not meet incarceration criteria.
Weapon’s offense: At 12:58 p.m. on Sept. 7 in the 33300 block of 43rd Place S., a 13-year-old said he was riding his bike alone in the neighborhood when he noticed an unknown man in his 20s pull up in a gray car. The man asked the boy what he was doing and then displayed a handgun to the teen by twirling it around his finger. The man then drove off.
The teen did not observe the license plate number and only had minimal information about the suspect. He said the suspect had light colored, shaved hair and dark clothing. The boy’s mother said she had no reason to disbelieve her son and that he was shaking when he arrived home. An officer contacted homeowners in the area but developed no leads.
Woman teases man during football game, dispute ensues: At 2:07 p.m. on Sept. 7 in the 27900 block of Pacific Highway S., a dating couple who live together got into a verbal argument after the woman repeatedly teased the man while he was trying to watch the Dallas Cowboys take on the San Francisco 49ers during a football game. The dispute became very heated and items inside the apartment were banged around. The argument did not become physical and police determined that no crime was committed.
Neighbor threatens children, makes racial slurs: At 6:24 p.m. on Sept. 7 in the 33000 block of Fourth Place S., a woman called police and said a motorcyclist associated with her neighbor’s residence pointed his finger at her children in a manner that mimicked a gun and then said, “Bang.” She said this incident took place during a dispute in which the motorcyclist was upset that her children were in the road. She stated the motorcyclist also made racial slurs. She took his actions as a threat and asked police to contact the motorcyclist and trespass him from her property. Police could not identify the motorcyclist and asked the woman to call 911 if he returned.
Police initiate K-9 track of church burglars: At 1:08 a.m. on Sept. 6 at 1525 SW Dash Point Road, an unknown suspect broke a window and gained entry into the church. A neighbor saw two unidentified suspects running from the church shortly after a loud alarm sounded. Police initiated a K-9 track but they did not locate the suspect or anything of evidentiary value. Nothing was noted as missing from the church.
Father’s continual argument with son leads to health issue: At 8:40 p.m. on Sept. 6 in the 32700 block of 19th Place S., a man contacted Federal Way police to report an argument with his son. He said the argument went on intermittently all day and his son left the residence earlier.
Just before the man called police, he argued again with his son on the phone. The man told police he heard a “pop” in his head and then developed blurred vision. He was concerned about his health so he called 911. South King Fire and Rescue treated him at the scene and advised him to be transported to St. Francis Hospital.
Escaped convict flees out motel window: At 3:17 a.m. on Sept. 5 at 1806 S. 336th St., while conducting a knock-and-talk investigative technique at room K of the Ridgecrest Motel, the 40-year-old suspect from Vashon Island climbed out a back window and fled into the wooded area at the rear of the motel. Police located the man hiding in the bushes. He was found to have a Department of Corrections escape warrant and was booked into SCORE jail.
Man on ladder peers over balcony at babysitter, flees: At 9 a.m. on Sept. 5 at 1900 SW Campus Drive, a man called police and reported a male subject placed a ladder against his second-floor balcony, climbed up and peered into his balcony area.
He said his babysitter, who was at the apartment at the time, was startled when she saw the man on the ladder. The babysitter said the male fled in an unknown direction after he saw her. He did not make entry into the apartment, nor were there any damages.
However, the man said he received a letter from management about apartment balconies being checked for damages, but he found it odd that the male fled. Police confirmed with apartment management that they provided tenants with a letter that said they would be conducting balcony checks.
Veteran’s packaged prescription meds disappear at post office: At 1:12 p.m. on Sept. 5 in the 30600 block of Ninth Ave. S., an officer responding to a theft report contacted a man who said his prescription meds were never delivered to his home. He said his prescription was filled at the Veteran’s Administration and sent to his residence. He was at the Veteran’s Administration at the time of the call and the officer spoke with the pharmacist, who provided the officer with the United States Postal Service tracking number.
The officer confirmed that the package was received at a sorting location and was then delivered to the Twin Lakes Post Office. The tracking showed the package was then sent out from the post office for delivery but the recipient never received it. The officer contacted post office officials, who confirmed they received the package.
However, they could not locate it. A post office worker spoke with carriers for that area, but they indicated no knowledge about the package. The worker said based on the tracking, anybody in their post office could have handled the package. He said he would contact the local Post Office General to start an internal investigation.
Wife arrested after hitting husband’s head with vodka bottle: At 9 p.m. on Sept. 4 in the 29600 block of 18th Ave. S., police responded to St. Francis Hospital for a report of a domestic assault. The victim, who had a cut on the back of his head, stated he was arguing with his wife over her affair with a felon. He said during the confrontation, she assaulted him by kicking and punching him in the face, and hitting him in the back of his head with a glass skull on a vodka bottle.
He told police that during their 13 year relationship, his wife has assaulted him on approximately 100 occasions. He said he finally called police this time because she assaulted him with the bottle as a weapon.
The man said they had both been drinking all day before the assault and that their three children were in bed during the incident. Police found the children at home, crying but safe. The woman was arrested and booked into SCORE jail.
