Man moves in with mom, can’t find gun | Federal Way crime blotter

I know it’s here somewhere: At 12:53 p.m. Aug. 17 in the 32000 block of 39th Place SW, a man called about a missing handgun.

Following is a sample from the Federal Way police log:

• I know it’s here somewhere: At 12:53 p.m. Aug. 17 in the 32000 block of 39th Place SW, a man called about a missing handgun. He said that he had stored it at his mother’s house approximately four years ago. The man had recently moved back in with his mother to take care of her, and they have been unable to locate the gun. The man said he was unsure what happened to it because his mother’s residence has not been broken into, etc.

• You know times are tough when … : At 4:49 a.m. Aug. 18 in the 2300 block of SW 338th Street, a person reported hearing their garage door being opened from the outside and said a sensor light had been tripped. The person then heard a car door shut and saw a green BMW speed off. The garage door had some signs of attempted forced entry.

• Calendars are important: At 8:40 a.m. Aug. 18 in the 33000 block of 8th Avenue South, a man walked into the Federal Way police station lobby after going to court and discovered he had the wrong day for his court date. A warrant had been issued for the man for the missed court date. He turned himself in to FWPD. He was arrested and released after promising to appear for next court date.

• Broken bus windows: At 8:22 a.m. Aug. 17 in the 2500 block of SW 336th, a person called to report that one window had been broken out of each KinderCare bus. The reporting party said this was not the first time this had happened.

• No Old Country for them: At 5:34 p.m. Aug. 17 in the 1800 block of South 320th Street, a couple went to Old Country Buffet to dine. Their car was broken into while they were eating, and the woman’s purse was stolen. The victim indicated that her purse contained her wallet, cash, checkbook, ID, credit cards and other personal items. One of the credit cards was used at a nearby gas station, but the gas station did not have surveillance equipment, so the suspect was unable to be identified. The victim was advised to cancel all cards.

• Assault: At 8:04 p.m. Aug. 16 in the 33000 block of 21st Avenue SW, a victim was assaulted by an unknown person. The suspect took the victim’s backpack, which contained the victim’s Xbox 360. The suspect fled on foot.

• I really hate your parents: At 1:49 p.m. Aug. 16 in the 2200 block of Star Lake Road, a couple got into a fight over each other’s parents. The man splashed beer on the woman, then left before police arrived.

• Would you open a window?: At 8:29 a.m. Aug. 15 in the 33000 block of 40th Avenue South, two people got in a verbal argument over opening and closing a window. The argument happened because one of the people was burning incense.

• Property turned in: At 1:14 p.m. Aug. 15, the reporting party came to Federal Way police station to turn in a wallet the person had received in the mail. The wallet had documents inside dating back to 1997. The reporting party believed the wallet belonged to someone who previously lived at the person’s address. The owner of the wallet had a current address in Mill Creek, but was unable to be contacted.
