Man mails rape confession to White House | Federal Way crime blotter

Following is a sample from the Federal Way police log:

• Threatening letters: At 3 p.m. April 21 in the 31000 block of 18th Avenue South, corrections officers informed Federal Way police that a subject who was scheduled to be released had been sending letters to the White House. The most recent intercepted letter included information that the man wanted to give a “death bed confession” and get something off his conscience, according to the police report. The man claimed to have raped a child at the “Federal Way Elementary School” on Oct. 5, 2010. The subject has a history of mental illness. The United States Secret Service is also investigating the letters, which also contained threats, according to the report.

• Stolen wine: At 7:26 p.m. April 19 in the 31000 block of 20th Avenue South, a man was arrested for theft in the third degree after shoplifting four bottles of wine valued at $9.99.

• Stolen pipe: At 6:35 p.m. April 19 in the 32000 block of Weyerhaeuser Way South, police were called by a victim who reported the theft of a catalytic converter from her parked car. The car was parked at her place of employment when an unknown suspect(s) used what appeared to be a cordless reciprocating saw to cut the metal pipe from underneath the vehicle, according to the police report.

• “In this corner…”: At 1:11 a.m. April 19 in the 1700 block of South 305th Place, police were contacted after three people were heard in a verbal argument. According to the police report, two males were wrestling in the apartment for fun, causing noise. When police arrived, all three parties were yelling. A noise warning was given.

• Slap: At 8:32 p.m. April 20 in the 3400 block of Southwest 320th Street, police were called on a report that a mother and daughter were in a heated argument. The daughter began yelling at her mom, who eventually slapped her in the face, according to the police report.

• Stolen laptop: At 7:18 p.m. April 20 in the 35000 block of Enchanted Parkway South, police were called by a man who witnessed a white male get into his car and steal his laptop. The man chased the suspect on foot, but lost him when he got into a vehicle, according to the police report.

• Burglary: At 3:29 p.m. April 20 in the 200 block of Southwest 319th Lane, a victim called police to say that he returned home and his apartment was in disarray. It was later determined that the back window of his apartment was pried open and the suspect(s) stole two televisions, a Nintendo Wii, a Sony PS2, several games, DVDs, two laptops, tools and a piggy bank. Police have no suspects.

• Burglary: At 2:45 p.m. April 20 in the 1000 block of South 315th Street, police were called by a victim reporting a burglary. The victim reported that a back window was broken with a rock and a handgun and a Sony Playstation were taken.

• Random masturbater: At 5:52 p.m. April 21 in the 33200 block of 1st Avenue South, a victim called police to report that a random male suspect was watching her while she was on the BPA Trail, and he started masturbating. A check of the area by police was negative.

• Soliciting a minor: At 8:28 a.m. April 22 in the 34000 block of 16th Avenue South, police arrested a suspect for soliciting a minor for sexual purposes on the Internet. Federal Way police contacted the man in front of a business and detained him without incident, according to the police report.

• Domestic violence: At 11:48 p.m. April 23 in the 31000 block of 3rd Place Southwest, police were contacted by a woman who said her boyfriend punched her in the face about 10 times while they were driving. The man also strangled her, she claimed. The man was located and arrested for second-degree assault and booked into King County Jail.
