Federal Way police are investigating after a man was fatally shot inside a Federal Way mobile home on Friday night.

At about 9:30 p.m. March 12, officers responded to reports of a shooting near the 27600 block of 27th Avenue South, said Cmdr. Kurt Schwan of FWPD.

A neighbor, who reported hearing the gunfire, went to the involved residence and discovered his neighbor, a man that has not yet been identified, had been shot inside the home, Schwan said. Another neighbor called 911 and provided a description of a vehicle leaving the scene after the shooting, which was located and stopped by officers responding to the incident.

Although life-saving measures were attempted by officers and medics, the victim died at the scene.

Schwan said it is unclear what role the driver of the vehicle leaving the scene played in this incident, although the driver, in his late 50s, has been detained by officers.

Police canvassed the neighborhood for additional witnesses and detectives from the department’s Criminal Investigations Section have responded to assist with the investigation.
